Basic HTML Page

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the set of markup symbols or codes inserted in a file intended for display on a World Wide Web browser page. The markup tells the Web browser how to display a Web page’s words and images for the user. Each individual markup code is referred to as an element (but many people also refer to it as a tag). Some elements come in pairs that indicate when some display effect is to begin and when it is to end. HTML is a formal Recommendation by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is generally adhered to by the major browsers.

The following is the code for a basic HTML file.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<title>Title of the document</title>
The content of the document……

Doctype in HTML5 is ‘DOCTYPE html’. This is the first line of every page. It is an instruction to the browser about the markup which has to be rendered.

Head tag is the place where we will mention the title of the website, meta tags,  css and javascript.

Between Body opening and closing tags, we have to add the contents which has to be displayed.

HTML can be said as the skeleton of a web page. It is a frame for displaying our content on the web page. With the help of CSS, we can add look and feel for this skeleton. Javascript adds interactivity to the web page. So all these three are necessary for the development of a web page.
